As we seek to comprehend the nature of "True Worship", the first thing we must establish, is an understanding of the title. When the word "true" is used to label anything as being true, then by indication that word separates the thing or things from the thing or things that are false. An example of this would be; if there is a true God, then with the word "true" labeling God as being true, this word would separate and label the true God from the gods that are false. And if there are teachings that are true of God, then with the word "true" labeling the teachings as being true, this label would separate the true teachings from those teachings that are false.

However, in order to determine whether to label anything as being true or false, we must make our decision based on facts and not our ideas or theories. If there is a form of worship that is labeled as being true, then, there are other forms of worship that are labeled as being false. Before we can comprehend and determine the difference between true and false worship, we need to determine what worship is. Are we obligated to worship? If we are obligated to worship in some way, who is it that requires our worship, and how do we perform this obligation?

If I were to tell you that you are obligated to worship in some way, the question you might ask of me is, "Why should I follow your view of worship?" And if you were to ask of me to worship in some way, the question I might ask of you would be, "Why should I follow your view of worship?" If there is no obligation to worship, then we need not to continue in the study of this subject. But if there is an obligation to worship in some way, the question to which an answer must be given as we continue this study is this, "Who requires our worship and how do we fulfill the requirements of this worship?" This is the question, for which we must seek an answer.

Using the tools we have at hand, we can define the word "Worship" from the Strong's Exhaustive Concordance Of The Bible with root definitions from Hebrew 07812, 06087, 05457 and from Greek 4352, 3000, 2151, 1799, 1479, 1391.

Hebrew: -07812 shachah {shaw-khaw'}
a primitive root; to depress, i.e. prostrate (especially reflexive in homage to royalty or God):-bow (self) down, crouch, fall down (flat), humbly beseech, do (make) obeisance, do reverence, make to stoop, worship.

Hebrew: -06087 `atsab {aw-tsab'}
a primitive root; probably to carve, i.e. fabricate or fashion; hence (in a bad sense) to worry, pain or anger:- displease, grieve, hurt, make, be sorry, vex, worship, wrest.

Hebrew: -05457 cegid (Aramaic) {seg-eed'}
corresponding to 05456; - worship. a primitive root; to prostrate oneself, (in homage): -fall down.

Greek: -4352 proskuneo {pros-koo-neh'-o}
from 4314 and a probable derivative of 2965 (meaning to kiss, like a dog licking his master's hand); to fawn or crouch to, i.e. (literally or figuratively) prostrate oneself in homage (do reverence to, adore):-worship.

Greek: -3000 latreuo {lat-ryoo'-o}
from latris (a hired menial); to minister (to God), i.e. render religious homage:-serve, do the service, worship (-per).

Greek: -2151 eusebeo {yoo-seb-eh'-o}
from 2152; to be pious, i.e. (towards God) to worship, or (towards parents) to respect (support):-show piety, worship.

Greek: -1799 enopion {en-o'-pee-on}
neuter of a compound of 1722 and a derivative of 3700; in the face of (literally or figuratively):-before, in the sight of, in the presence of, to.

Greek: -1479 ethelothreskeia {eth-el-oth-race-ki'-ah}
from 2309 and 2356; voluntary, (arbitrary and unwarranted) piety, i.e. sanctimony:-will worship.

Greek: -1391 doxa {dox'-ah}
from the base of 1380; glory (as very apparent). in a wide application (literally or figuratively, objectively or subjectively.):-dignity, glory (-ious), honour, praise, worship.

By presenting these root definitions from the Strong's Concordance, a person can incorporate them into his or her understanding of the general meaning of the word worship. From these definitions, the word worship means, to bow in reverence, or in voluntary service towards the thing, or the person to which one adores or respects. Also, it means that through this voluntary service, honor and praise will be brought to that thing or person which is adored, or should be adored.

Not only can the word worship be used to present the concept of bringing honor and praise, but from the Hebrew definition (-06087 `atsab {aw-tsab'}), it can also mean, to bring worry, pain or anger, to be displeased, grieved, hurt or make to be sorry.

From these definitions presented here, worship can best be described as (an act of bowing in service, or not bowing in service, or causing displeasure or giving praise) to the thing or the one who is adored.

Although we have what could be defined as the definition of worship, we are counseled by the Word of God to "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil." (Proverb 3:5-7)

By trusting in the LORD with all our heart and not bowing or worshiping our own understanding, but in all that we do and say, we acknowledge HIM and HE will lead us to HIS Truth that HIS Truth might lead us in True worship to the Father. By leaning on Him for HIS guidance, we give honor and praise to HIM through Him, Whom we adore. We are not to be wise in our own eyes, but to fear the LORD, and depart from evil. As we trust in the LORD to define by HIS Word the meaning of worship, HE will reveal to our minds the Truth that we might comprehend fully in our hearts the nature of worship and the difference between true and false worship.

To John, came an angel with a message to be given to every person dwelling on the earth. John testified and said, "...I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters" (Revelation 14:6,7).

...The EVERLASTING Gospel...
"Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment
is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and
the sea, and the fountains of waters" (Revelation 14:7).

John testified that he saw an angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth. The word "gospel" defined by the Strong's Concordance says that it is...

Greek: -2098 euaggelion {yoo-ang-ghel'-ee-on}
from the same as 2097; a good message. i.e. the gospel.

Greek: -2097 euaggelizo {yoo-ang-ghel-id'-zo}
from 2095 and 32; to announce good news ("evangelize") especially the gospel:- declare, bring (declare, show) glad (good) tidings preach (the gospel).

The gospel is good news. It is news that is everlasting, i.e., it has always been and will always be good news for those who dwell on the earth. However, unless the people on earth can receive the everlasting good news of God, they cannot glorify HIM, neither can they worship HIM. Yet, John testified that he saw in a vision an angel fly in the midst of heaven with a message to be preached with a loud voice to every nation, kindred, tongue and people, saying, "fear God, and give glory to HIM; for the hour of HIS Judgment is come, and worship Him that made heaven and earth, and the sea and the fountains of waters".

In this message, there is found good news. But no one on earth can receive this good news; neither can they understand why it is good news, because they cannot hear it. Even though the message is being repeated today, to almost every nation, kindred, tongue and people, it is still not being heard by even those who are presenting it, because they do not yet understand the message.

"How?" you ask, "is this possible?"

According to the message sent by the angel, the same God, WHO made the heaven and the earth and the fountains of waters, has made it possible for everyone on earth to worship Him, by fearing HIM and giving glory to HIM. Although it is made possible for all men to worship God, not everyone understands how this is done.

Through HIS Word, the LORD said, "Who hath ears to hear, let him hear. And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

"And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: For this people's heart is waxed gross, and [their] ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with [their] eyes, and hear with [their] ears, and should understand with [their] heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

"But blessed [are] your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous [men] have desired to see [those things] which ye see, and have not seen [them]; and to hear [those things] which ye hear, and have not heard [them]. (Matthew 13:9-17)"

Man's way verses God's Way Man's way

Reason for not hearing the Everlasting Gospel

According to the Word of the LORD, the reason many receive not the everlasting gospel of God is because, they having eyes to see, they see not, and they having ears to hear, they hear not, neither do they understand. For many prophets and righteous men of the past have desired to see the things that were now being revealed in the fullness of time, but they saw them not, because the time of revelation was not yet full. But now the fullness of time had come and the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven were now being revealed to men, but they having eyes to see and ears to hear were not ready to receive these things.

Being in this condition, at the fullness of time, they are described as fulfilling the prophecy of Esaias, which says, they having the ability to hear, they shall hear, yet they shall not understand, and they having the ability of seeing, they shall see and yet not perceive. Today, there are many who believe that because we are living in a time after the mysteries have been revealed, we are now able to pick any version of the bible and understand the mysteries that were once revealed to the disciples in their time. Yet, many who read the written Word feel that they have that ability to receive the Truth, but they perceive Him not. They believe that they have that ability to hear what is being said, but they understand not the Truth. It is for this reason that the angel is preaching his message in a loud voice that all might hear and live. The question is this, "Are they hearing and understanding what is being said?"

It is therefore possible that there are preachers, who present the everlasting gospel to the nations of the world, and yet they themselves do not understand the important message that they are presenting to the world. The reason for this condition is because their hearts are waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed, preventing themselves from seeing with their eyes, and hearing with their ears, and understanding with their hearts and even preventing themselves from being converted that they might be healed by the Word of God.

Not worshiping or leaning on their own understanding, Paul, in harmony with the other disciples, sent a letter to the church at Corinth and said, "...Seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.

"But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. (2 Corinthians 4:1-4)"

The Truth is revealed to those who see and hear by faith. But those who are blind to the Truth, they will follow man's wisdom.

The Word said to all the disciples, "Who has ears to hear, let him hear." In these words, the Father has revealed HIS will by HIS Word that all should hear HIS Word. However, because some received not the Word of God by hearing, HE speaks to them in parables through HIS Word that they might receive HIS Truth. Those who received Him, received abundantly MORE than what they had received. But those who received Him not they will lose even That, Which they had. The Word spoke to them in parables, because they seeing the word in the form of Flesh saw not the Truth. And they hearing the word in the form of Flesh, received not the Truth, neither did they understand what God was saying to them through HIS Word. Because of this lack of understanding, many have handled the Word of God deceitfully.

Those who worship God's Way, they will give HIM honor and praise, by following the Word, Whom the Father has sent to reveal HIS Way. And those who choose not to worship God's Way; they will bring displeasure to the heart of HIM, WHO sacrificed HIS Son to show us the Way.

Man was made to worship. Even if a person chooses not to worship the ONE, WHO created all things, he or she would still be worshiping something, or someone, in some way. With the ability to choose, man was given the power of choice to worship God by the Way HE has revealed or to choose not to follow HIS Way.

After HIS Kind

Before creating man on earth, God said, "...Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that [it was] good.

"And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth" (Genesis 1:24-28).

Man was made in the likeness of God. Both male and female were made in the image of God to reflect HIS glory back to HIM. Having furnished the earth with every living creature, God provided every living creature with the power to produce after their kind. Likewise, HE created man (male and female) to reproduce and furnish the earth, not after the living creatures, but to produce and bear fruit after HIS Kind. By submitting themselves to this plan, they would continue to worship God in this form and give glory and honor to HIM. In following any other form, this will bring displeasure to the heart of God.

God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth" (Genesis 1:28).

But after being on earth for only a few thousand years in sin, God came to man and selected a people to honor and glorify HIS name after HIS Kind in all the earth. But not everyone has borne HIS Fruit after HIS Kind. To this day man continues to bear fruit and worship after another kind. To him man has given the glory. We also see the reason why so many are not able to understand and perceive the things of God, and the condition and result of not worshiping God after HIS Kind.

After seeing the extent and seriousness of the problem, of how the church worshiped God incorrectly, we must ask ourselves these questions; "Are we also rebelling against the LORD and worshiping HIM another way?" "Are we mixing the pure Wine of the LORD with the water of men?" "Have we removed our hearts far from the LORD that we might no longer be perfect with HIM?" "Have we rejected HIS Word of Judgment that we might learn to be obedient to HIS will?"

To answer these questions and to address the seriousness of the problem within the church, the LORD sent His angel with a message, saying in a loud voice to every nation, kindred, tongue and people, "Fear God, and give glory to HIM; for the hour of HIS Judgment is come, and worship Him that made heaven and earth, and the sea and the fountains of waters."

What does it mean to fear God?
