Who is The Spirit of Truth?
- Introduction -

What is The Key that would unlock the so-called "Mystery" of The GODHEAD, which is a topic of much confusion and controversy in the minds of many in our churches? Is it, as some would say, "not a salvation issue", to know Who is The Spirit of Truth? Would it be an issue on that day when The Lord shall say to those, who had not the extra Oil with their lamps, to depart from Him, because He knew them not? Could we afford to wait until then to know the answer to these questions? I hope not.

In studying this topic on The Spirit of Truth, there are many factors that would cause one to not receive The Knowledge to understand The Truth, as revealed to us by GOD through HIS Word. One of these factors would be the result of not receiving first The Key of Faith, Which opens the mind to see spiritually The Things of The Kingdom of GOD, Which The Father has already revealed to us by HIS Word. And although HIS Word has presented and revealed to us The Truth, if our hearts cannot with Patience make the connection by faith, to What The Father has revealed to us by HIS Word, then we will not receive The Truth, no matter who is sent to guide us into all Truth. For without faith in GOD'S Word, we would be blind to HIS leading Hand, as Paul said, "Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth" (2 Timothy 3:7).

For when The Truth came to men the first time, many of the leaders failed to receive Him, even when He was presented to them, because they did not first receive The Gift of Faith to receive and discern The Truth of GOD by the evidence He had revealed to them before hand. For it is the goal and desire of GOD to reveal HIS Word of Truth to our hearts, that we might receive and know The Truth for ourselves. However, like a runner in a relay race, whose goal it is to win the race, while passing and receiving the baton from one runner to the next without losing the baton in the race; a problem is presented to our hearts, when one receiver seeks to pass on The Spiritual Things of GOD to the next person in the Christian race before he, or she can first make sure that he, or she has received That, Which is given of GOD in the heart. For without receiving The Gift of Faith from GOD, to grip and comprehend HIS Word, Whom HE has sent, many have sought to run the Christian race, without understanding The Spiritual Things GOD has revealed to us by Faith in HIS Word. It is like Simon the Samaritan, who wanted to purchase The Gift of GOD with money, that he might show to men that he could impart, or pass on The Power of The Holy Spirit on whoever he laid his hands upon.

This dilemma to receive and present The Things of GOD, many with their own views on what The Scriptures are saying and should say in support of those views, have voted by their committees to support and promote those views to their churches as The Word from GOD. As a result, every now and then, a new interpretation emerges from the printing press, proclaiming to be a better and clearer translation than the one previously presented as The Word of GOD. With so many different versions in one translation coming off the press, and no two versions presenting the same Truth in every case, many who by faith have received The Truth, seek to present and contend for The Faith, Which was once delivered to the saints. But day after day and year by year, the hearts of men grow darker and darker away from The Light of Truth, because they cannot make The Spiritual connection to receive and grasp What The Father has revealed to our hearts by HIS Spiritual Guide, even though they read and present what they have represented as the words from GOD.

One of the faithful disciples called Judas said unto Jesus, saying "...Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me" (John 14:22-24). Notice that Jesus made it clear, or He had passed on to Judas That, Which was given to Him, that The Word, Which he heard was not His, but The Father, WHO sent Him.

What's the difference?
What makes the difference between the world
and the faithful?

The enemy of GOD and man knows The Power of GOD'S Word, and it is his goal and desire to keep men from winning the race of coming into The Light of knowing The Truth of GOD. From the beginning of man's existence, Lucifer, whose name meant Light bearer, or the bearer of GOD'S Gift of Light, had the opportunity to shine, or pass on The Light to Eve, to guide her by his council, to not stray from The Council and Instruction given to her by The Word of GOD. But no. He added his own interpretation and commentary to replace The Council and Instruction given by GOD through HIS Word, which resulted in the death of man from The Way of Light and Life. Again, When The Son of GOD came to earth in the form of flesh, to restore man to The Way of Light and Life, the enemy of GOD and man sought to uproot The Gift of Light and Life before He could take root in the hearts of men.

After The Father had declared and made it known that Jesus is HIS beloved Son, in Whom HE is well pleased, the enemy sought to deceive Christ, to doubt The COUNCIL of His Own Father, WHO had revealed to Him that He is The Son of GOD. The enemy sought to get Jesus to doubt What The Father had revealed to Him, that he might prevent Jesus from passing on to us What The Father would reveal to us through Him. And having failed on two attempts to deceive Jesus in denying His identity as The Son of GOD, the enemy then sought to deceive and cause The Lord Jesus to recognize and worship him as God, which is what he wanted from the beginning. Although the enemy failed to cause Jesus to doubt What The Father had revealed to Him, the question presented to us is this, Has he accomplished his deception in our minds and hearts, to doubt What The Father has revealed to us of The GODHEAD by HIS Word? If we have received GOD'S Word, Whom HE has sent; would The GODHEAD be a Mystery to us today? But this is what many in the church are saying, and are running the race, to pass on to men what they believe to be true.

In all three attempts of the enemy to deceive The Son of GOD, Jesus answered with a response, saying, "It is written". For He said, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God" (Matthew 4:4). If we are not living by every word that proceeded out from the mouth of God, then we are dying daily by every word that we feel enlighten to change, to fit to our own understanding on what is plausible as being the words of GOD. Jesus did not put His trust in the wisdom of men, which tend to change from day to day and from year to year. For it is written, "...when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast [day], many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all [men], And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man" (John 2:23-25). No, Jesus trusted not in the words of men, but in The Word of GOD, Who proceeded and came forth from The Father, and was with The Father from the beginning.

But wait; if Jesus is The Word of GOD, Who was with The Father from the beginning, and He trusted in The Word of GOD when He became flesh among men, then what are you saying? I am saying that we must also trust in The Word as He did, and not change What GOD has presented by Him to fit our own understanding. And with Patience, He The Word of GOD will make The Things of GOD clear to our understanding, that we might receive and know in our hearts HIS Truth for ourselves. In every attempt of the enemy to deceive The Lord Jesus Christ, Jesus said to him, "It is written".

The question we must ask ourselves is this, "What is written?" and,
"Who wrote That, Which is written?"

As Jesus said, "It is written." "The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified [it] by his angel unto his servant John: Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw. Blessed [is] he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time [is] at hand" (Revelation 1:1-3).

HIS Word
for The Revelation of The Word.

Notice that The Father gave The Revelation of Jesus Christ to Him. In other words, Jesus received from The Father, The Revelation of Himself. Why? That He might show to His servants, who serve Him, The Things that must shortly come to pass. As it is written and outlined in the verse, The Father gave The Revelation to Jesus, and as we read the report given by John, "The Father love The Son and has given all things into His hand". We see by faith why it is a blessing to read, hear and keep Those Things, Which are written therein, for HE has shown to His servants His Story, or The Things, Which must shortly come to pass. In other words, He whom we call upon to save us, He is The only One, Who could reveal to us, The Things to come shortly in the future, the things that have presently come, and the things that have already passed in His story.

However, it has been suggested, or interpreted by some, who relay The Word of GOD to our hearts, that the outline given in Revelation 1:1 reveals to us the means by which GOD gave The Revelation of Jesus Christ to the churches, who serve Him. Many interpret this verse to say that GOD give The Revelation to Jesus Christ, Who then sent and signified The Revelation of Himself by His angel unto His servant John. But this view, which is interpreted by men, is different from That, Which is outlined in the first part of the verse, and is presented in most of the interpretations, which men say is given by GOD. In Revelation 5:1, we read of a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice for someone worthy to open The Book, but no one was found worthy in heaven, or on earth, or under the earth to open The Book. Yet, there was One, Who had prevailed to open The Book, because It is a Record of Him, Which was given to Him by The Father.

It was through His servant Moses that we learn that GOD sent HIS Angel to lead the children of Israel from the land of Egypt into the promise land. HE said to Moses, "Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared. Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name [is] in him. But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries. For mine Angel shall go before thee, and bring thee in unto the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites: and I will cut them off" (Exodus 23:20-23).

Here we see that this Angel is sent by GOD to lead the people, and they were to obey His Voice, because The Father's NAME was in Him. Yet it was not until we read in Exodus 33 that Moses was still looking for the promise of That Angel, Whom The Father said HE Would send. "And Moses said unto the LORD, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight. Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation [is] thy people. And he said, My presence shall go [with thee], and I will give thee rest. And he said unto him, If thy presence go not [with me], carry us not up hence" (Exodus 33:12-15).

Moses did not know that The LORD was speaking to him through HIS Angel, Whom HE had sent to Guide His people into the promise land. For The Angel of The LORD is The Same Person, Who signified The Revelation of Himself unto His servant John to the churches. He is The Messenger of GOD to man. Through Him, The Father's Presence and VOICE is made known to men, because He is The Expressed Image of The Father to men. Note also that He is, and has been The Only Mediator between GOD and man. For The Father did not send another into the world to take His place in the hearts of men, but if we receive Him, we receive also The Father Who sent Him, because He is The Expressed Will and Glory of The Father to man.

Now, according to the view held by the Trinitarians, they believe that The Father, The Son, and The Holy Ghost, as One co-existed at the same time for all eternity. And no One of the three Persons existed before the other. If The Three existed as One for all eternity, why would Jesus, Who existed the same time with The Father and The Holy Ghost need for The Father to give Him a Book revealing to Himself The Things He should have already known about Himself? By accepting this view to be truth, as many believe, it denies The Son ship of Christ, Who inherited all things from The Father, Who sent Him. The Evidence Jesus has revealed of Himself, reveals all that The Father has given into His hand to show unto us, Which does not support the mystery, which many believe in today. If it is a mystery, then it is not of GOD, for Jesus has testified and revealed to us That, Which was sealed in The Book, and was given to Him to reveal to us. He said, "Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you" (John 15:15).

If we do not get What He has revealed to us, then we cannot represent to the world What we have not received from Him. In simple words, If we don't get it, we can't give it. If He did not teach it, we cannot support it from His Teachings. It was in revealing the importance of receiving What Jesus has revealed to us, that John testified and said, "He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all. And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony. He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true. For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure [unto him]. The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand" (John 3:31-35).

Notice that we are of the earth, and are earthly minded, and speak mainly of the things known and interpreted to us of the thing of the earth, which is why Jesus said He, "knew all [men], And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man. However, Jesus is above all, and came from heaven above to testify to all on what He has seen and heard from above. But not many have received or kept The Testimony He has revealed of The Things above. Yet, it is written, "He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true. For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God". This last statement should have made it clear to our hearts that all, who heard The Will and Commands of GOD, were hearing and seeing The Son, Who is The Expressed Image and Voice of GOD, Who was speaking HIS Will to the hearts of men. For it is written, "No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared [him]" (John 1:18).

The relay of The Word

Jesus has declared That, Which is written of Him, to those, who denied His Testimony, saying, "...I have greater witness than [that] of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me. And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape. And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not. Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me" John 5:36-39).

Jesus did not become a Unique Son, or The Son of GOD after He was sent to earth as man. No, He was The Son of GOD before the earth was, as He testified through His servant Solomon. A person can go and open The Scriptures, and search from cover to cover, and as Jesus has said, they (The Scriptures) are they, which testify of Him. At no time did any man see or heard The Father, because The Son of GOD was The One, Who declared and made HIS NAME and Will known to men. He represented and glorified The Father so perfectly that His Glory and Way has been to do HIS Will. This is why Jesus said, or The Father spoke to Philip through HIS Word and said, "...Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou [then], Shew us the Father? (John 14:9) As it is revealed in Revelation 1, The Book, or The Revelation of Jesus Christ is both The Word of GOD and The Testimony of Jesus Christ, for in Him The fullness of The GODHEAD is revealed, and The Testimony of GOD is proclaimed.

It was The Father by HIS Word, Who instructed Solomon with HIS Word of Wisdom; Which Jesus would again receive when He came to dwell on earth among men. The very words that The Father gave to the prophets through HIS Word, Jesus would again receive to Guide Him in The Way He would go in doing The Father's Will as a man. It is The Same words He has given to us that we might know and do The Father's Will. He said to Solomon, "To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding; To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity; To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion. A wise [man] will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels: To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.

"The fear of the LORD [is] the beginning of knowledge: [but] fools despise wisdom and instruction. My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother: For they [shall be] an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck. My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not. If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause: Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit: We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil: Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:

"My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path: For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood. Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird. And they lay wait for their [own] blood; they lurk privily for their [own] lives. So [are] the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; [which] taketh away the life of the owners thereof. Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets: She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, [saying], How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

"Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you. Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you. Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil" (Proverbs 1:2-33).

It is by receiving Wisdom and Instruction that we come to perceive with the mind the words of Understanding, Who instructs us of Wisdom, Justice, and Judgment, and equity that we might give, or relay discretion and good sense, or forethought to the simple, who will hear. It is having an ear to hear The Wisdom and Instruction given to us that we become wise, to increase our learning from the simple, to the understanding of Wise Counsels, to understand a proverb and the interpretation of the words of the wise, and the sayings that have been sealed as dark saying. If we answer to the call of being children of God, then we would respect and hold in the highest regard The COUNSEL The LORD has given to us by HIS Word. But if we seek to be labeled as fools, then we would despise HIS Gift of Wisdom and Instruction.

It is through those, who had ears to hear The Wisdom and COUNSEL of GOD that we today have received in our hearts their relay of HIS Instruction and Wise Counsel of HIS Word. Through their giving an ear to hear The Word, He has uttered HIS Counsels again to us through those, who heard HIS Word. For He said, "I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you" (Proverbs 1:23). If we love and keep the words He has poured out unto us, then The Father will love us, and He The Son and The Father will come, and make Their abode with us. But if we despised and refuse to turn at HIS Reproof, to take His out stretched Hand and receive HIS Counsel, then we are rejecting both The Father and The Son, and all, who received and relayed HIS Word to us.

For in relaying The Counsel of GOD to Timothy, Paul said, "Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, [and commanding] to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. For every creature of God [is] good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

"If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained. But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself [rather] unto godliness. For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. This [is] a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation. For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

"These things command and teach. Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee" (1 Timothy 4:1-16).

There are many things that have been presented by Paul as being good doctrine that we might relay to the brethren in ministering The words of Jesus Christ, but in this series of studies, we will be addressing The Spirit of Truth, and how some have departed from the faith, which was once delivered to the saints. If we are to be saved from the seducing spirits and doctrines of devils, then we must take heed to The COUNSEL given by GOD in HIS Word, that HE by HIS Word might save both us and those, who hear Him through HIS Word ministered by us, just as we hear The Father through HIS Word, Whom HE has sent unto us. I pray that we might meditate on The Word of Life, and keep in our hearts The Things He has seen and heard of GOD that we might be a good minister of Jesus Christ in relaying, or ministering to those, who would believe, The Testimony He has reveal of Himself in His words.
