Principle No.2

The example presented by the Word to His disciples reveals to us, that although He is our Lord and Master, He was willing to humble Himself as a servant to wash the feet of His disciples. As members of the body of Christ, we are to follow His example and humble ourselves and serve one another as He served us.

The Word said through His servant David, "Mine eyes [shall be] upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me" (Psalm 101:6) The Word also said, "If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will [my] Father honour" (John 12:26).

The THIRD PRINCIPLE the Word revealed to His disciples was in the way in which we relate towards each other and how we relate towards Him and how He relates to the Father. He said, "The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him".

Principle No.3

As servants, we are not greater than our Lord and Master. And Jesus made it clear that He, Who was sent to earth to dwell among men, is not greater than HE-the Father, WHO sent Him.

As He spoke to the Jews concerning the sheep that received Him, the Word said, "My Father, which gave [them] me, is greater than all; and no [man] is able to pluck [them] out of my Father's hand" (John 10:29).

Speaking to His disciples, the Word said, "Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come [again] unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I" (John 14:28)

The Lord revealed to His disciples that whoever serves Him the Father will honor, and as His servants we will rejoice because He has gone to the Father on our behalf, because the Father is greater and He will come again unto us.

To make it clear to us, the Word said, "...Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life" (John 5:19-24).

We are to serve one another as Christ served us, for we are all equal in Christ, even those who serve the body as ministers of the Word. We are to be humble towards each other and serve each other with the love that Christ has shown towards us. By serving each other, we serve and give honor to the Lord.
