Without The Light of God in this world of darkness, it would be impossible for us to discern and understand The Truth of God. For by our knowledge, we know not which way to turn, neither do we have the knowledge to point another to safety without it. As a result we all would be lost.

The GOSPEL is "THE GOOD NEWS"

The Word said, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me" (John 14:6).

"In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not" (John 1:4,5).

"For God who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ" (2 Corinthians 4:6).

"But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them" (2 Corinthians 4:4).

In reading just these four verses of Scripture, we can gain an overall view of the good news of God toward men. We can also see the cause of confusion in this world, and to some degree why there are so many different religions in the world.

The first Scripture reveals to us that the only Way for us to know the Father of all life is by following the Word of God. No one can get to the Father by following the wisdom of men. It is only the Word of God working through His servants that He draws all unto Himself. Anyone who speaks a word to lead another in a path different from that which the Word has revealed, he or she is in fact leading that person away from God.

The second Scripture reveals to us, that the Light of God is given to all men. This same Light, Which is the Word of God, is Light and Life to all men. Without this Light and Life in the heart of man, men remain in darkness and death. The Light came into the world and was shining to the hearts of men. But being in darkness to the Truth, men did not comprehend this Light of Life.

The third Scripture reveals to us the good news of God. HE commanded that HIS Light, i.e., the Knowledge of the glory of God shining from the Word, should shine out of our darkened hearts as we behold the face of Jesus Christ--The Living Word. This is the greatest gift that man can receive through receiving The Word of God that HE might witness through us The Image of God in this world of darkness.

The forth Scripture reveals to us the overall problem that this world is in. The god of this world has blinded the minds of men that they should receive not the Light of Life and remain lost in darkness and death. By obscuring The Truth from the minds of men, the god of this world caused the Truth of God to be misrepresented. Paul, a disciple of Christ, said that none of the princes of this world knew of The Wisdom of God. For had the Truth been known of them, they would not have crucified The Lord of glory.

Without an understanding of The Truth, many have engaged themselves in the work of keeping the minds of men in darkness and death, but by beholding The Light of God through The Word, they can become channels by which The Word of Life can shine forth from the heart into this darkened world.

To those who are channels for The Word of God, The Word said, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven" (Matthew 5:16).

Reflecting the light on the Gospel

What is the Gospel?
From The Word to the church in Rome, Paul said, "Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, but was let hitherto, that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles. I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise. So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith" (Romans 1:13-17).

"For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

"How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

"But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" (Romans 10:11-17).

To fully comprehend the Gospel, that we might not remain ignorant or in darkness, we must understand why Paul was not ashamed to preach the Gospel of Christ.

The motivating Power in the heart of Paul was as a shining Light to the church in Rome that they should not be ignorant of the Truth. Because of this desire, he was obligated or moved by God to share what was in his heart to both the Greeks and the Barbarians, to the wise and the unwise.

Because of what God has presented to Paul in his heart, he was ready to present the same gospel he received to the church in Rome. Whatever It was that God revealed to Paul, It is The Power of God unto salvation, to everyone that believe by faith What he had received.

Within the gospel, the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith. It is the revealing of God by faith, which is The Power of God unto salvation. Everyone who receives the same revelation of God that Christ presented to Paul, he or she will not be ashamed; because The same LORD over all is rich in revealing HIS Truth unto all, who call upon HIS NAME. And whosoever will call upon HIS NAME will be saved by their faith.

Note:   Why is it that the world does not believe in the Gospel of Christ?

To answer this question and the reason for Paul's motivation to preach the gospel, one can say, "How shall the world call on Him in Whom they have not believed? And how shall the world believe in Him of Whom they have not heard? And how shall the world hear without a preacher? And how can a preacher preach, except he is motivated by the same Word of Life, to preach the gospel of God to those in darkness?"

In his letter, Paul noted that not all who heard The Word of God have obeyed the gospel. Esaias testified of this and saith, "Lord, who hath believed our report?" We receive faith and believe in God by hearing, and what we hear must come from The Word of God and not the wisdom of men.

To understand more clearly why the world is in darkness to the Gospel of Christ, we must comprehend the problem.

(1) What's the Problem?   (2) Recognizing the cause of the Problem.
(3) The Solution to the Problem.
