Fifth Law

"Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee" (Exodus 20:12).

Through HIS servant Paul, the Word said to His church, "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

"That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. For No man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:

"For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife [see] that she reverence [her] husband. Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.

"Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord" (Ephesians 5:25-33; 6:1-4).

By the evidence of faith through HIS Word, the Father has revealed how the children of man became One with God. We are born of God through HIS Word. This would make the Word of God, not only a brother to us, but He would also be a Father and a mother to all those, who are born of God through Him.

The family unit is a symbol of Christ and HIS bride the church. This symbol reveals how He has left His Father's house to be joined unto His wife the church, that He might become One with the church and that the church might become One with Him, i.e. the church might become bone of His bone, flesh of His flesh and Spirit of His Spirit, that He and the church might become One in Him and the Father. We are born of Him, nurtured by Him and fed by Him to become One with Him.

In revealing this Truth, Matthew testified of the Word and said, "While he yet talked to the people, behold, [his] mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him. Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee. But he answered and said unto him that told him,

Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother" (Matthew 12:46-50).

Being in the image of the Father, the Word poured out Himself to the people as the Wisdom of God and the Treasure of heaven and said through His servant David, "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it" (Proverbs 22:6).

Notice that He did not say that they were His Father. It is through Him, the Link of Love, that we are able to give honor to our Father's and mother, that our days may be long upon the land. If our earthly father and mother is connected to our heavenly Father by keeping the same Link of Love, then we as their children will delight to honor them by the same Link of Love that is connecting to us. And through the Father's Link of Love in us, the Father will train up HIS children in the Way we should go, that we might give honor and glory to HIS Name in the world, or where ever HE will send us, that our days maybe long upon the land which the LORD our God has given unto us in Christ.

However, if we choose not to keep the Father's Link of Love, then the Word said, "If any [man] come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple" (Luke 14:26,27).

If we don't care to be His disciple, or HIS children, then we are saying that we choose not to honor HIM as our Father by keeping HIS Link of Love that our days may be long upon the land, which the Father has given to us.
