The Evidence of GOD’S SABBATH
before Mount Sinai

Introduction
It is the assumption, or the supposition that The Sabbath Commandment is not apart of The Moral Law, and that it is not binding upon all men. Yet, The Sabbath Commandment is the one command that starts with the word “Remember” to be kept holy. Many make the assumption that The Law of GOD, Which is The Ten Commandments, was restricted only to the Jews. They assume that The Law of GOD, Which is HIS Great Standard of what is right and wrong, were not given to all nations, to be guided by GOD’S Moral Code of Law. But this assumption is believed today, because of an incorrect understanding of GOD’S purpose, in giving HIS Covenant Word of Promise to the children of Israel. This assumption is believed, because of an incorrect understanding by the children of Israel, who thought that they were to be the only ones saved, and everyone else were to be lost. And because of this wrong understanding, the children of Israel viewed all none Jews as being unworthy of the blessings of GOD. They also misinterpreted GOD’S Covenant Word of Love, Who walked with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and recorded in stone The Promises given of GOD to bless each descendant in their generation.

If you were one of ten children, and your parents came to you in love, and give unto you a blessing to share in love with your siblings, and you had the misunderstanding that you were their favorite, so you kept the blessings to yourself, and you did not share the blessings with your siblings, what message would your siblings receive about their parents, who love them, if they did not receive the intended blessings that you received?

In The Sermon on the Mount on the blessings of GOD, Jesus shared The Blessings of The Father to the multitude, and said to them, “Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more [than others]? do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect” (Matthew 5:43-48).

Having received The Blessing of The Covenant Word from The Father through The Son of Man--Christ Jesus, James--the brother of Jesus by his father Joseph, testified of the heavenly Father and said, “Do not err, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures. Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

“Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth [therein], he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed” (James 1:16-25).

Notice that James speaks of receiving every good and perfect gift from The Father of Lights, WHO has begotten us by The Word of Truth, Who is The Engrafted Word, Whom we must all receive, to be blessed in the saving of our souls. And in comparing The Word of Truth--The Engrafted Word, as The Perfect Law of Liberty to a glass, or a mirror, which we are to continue to behold, Paul testifies of GOD’S Perfect Law of Liberty, saying, “Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord [is], there [is] liberty. But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, [even] as by the Spirit of the Lord” (2 Corinthians 3:17, 18). But if GOD’S Perfect Law of Liberty, or The Spirit of The Lord--Christ Jesus is done away, then GOD cannot begotten us again by The Word of Truth, Whom we must receive, as The Engrafted Word, to bless and save our souls. For it is not the literal stone that saves us, but The Engrafted Word of GOD’S Covenant Word, Who writes GOD’S Law upon our hearts, just as He wrote them upon the two Tables of Stone given to Moses, to be taught to the children of Israel.

The Covenant Word of Promise
In The Covenant Promise of GOD’S Word to Abraham, it is written that, “…when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I [am] the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly. And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying, As for me, behold, my covenant [is] with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.

“And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee. And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God. And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations” (Genesis 17:1-9).

Stop! And pause for a moment, and think about what you have just read in those words given to Abraham. Did you catch The Promises that GOD established by HIS Covenant Word with Abraham? Look again at The Promises GOD gave by HIS Word to Abraham. And as you look again at what GOD promised to do by HIS Word, look also at what GOD ask Abraham to do. GOD by The Power of HIS Word spoke everything into existence, HE spoke to Abraham by HIS Word and said, “…walk before ME, and be thou perfect.” And GOD promised by HIS Word that HE will establish HIS Covenant between HIM and Abraham and his seed after him in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto Abraham, and to his seed after him. This is The Covenant Promise of GOD’S Word to Abraham, to establish HIS Covenant with him, to keep HIS Covenant, not only with Abraham, but also with his seed after him in their generations. The phrase that reassures Abraham of the keeping of GOD’S Covenant Promise, is the words, “Thou shalt keep my covenant…” which is saying, you shall keep MY Covenant, as a promise. It is the same as saying to the children of Israel, “Thou shalt have no other gods before me” (Exodus 20:3). It is GOD’S Covenant Promise to all, who will walk before HIM, to be perfect by HIS Covenant keeping Word, because HE will establish HIS Covenant Word of Promise in each generations, according to HIS Covenant Word of Promise to Abraham.

By misinterpreting The Covenant Promise of GOD’S Word to the hearts of men and women, many sabotage and damage their understanding of GOD’S ability to fulfill HIS Covenant Word of Promise in their lives. According to GOD’S Word of Promise to Abram, GOD would make Abram to be a father of many nations, which were to come out from him. And to keep that promise ever before Abram, GOD changed his name from Abram, which means, “exalted father” to his new name Abraham, which means, “father of a multitude”. Today, there are three main religions that claim Abraham as the father of their faith. For GOD did say by HIS Word to Abraham that, “…I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee” (Genesis 17:7). And that is a promise that only GOD can fulfill by HIS Covenant Word, if men do not work against HIS Will in their lives, by not obeying HIS Voice.

GOD further promised by HIS Covenant Word to Abraham and said, “…in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice” (Genesis 22:18). And to Isaac, the son of Abraham, who was of his seed, GOD said, “…I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws” (Genesis 26:4, 5). Notice again that GOD established The Promise of HIS Covenant Word with Isaac, just as HE did with Abraham. And in speaking to the grandson of Abraham, The Word of GOD said to Jacob, “…thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed. And, behold, I [am] with thee, and will keep thee in all [places] whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done [that] which I have spoken to thee of” (Genesis 28:14, 15).

Notice that in all these promises of GOD by HIS Covenant Word, HE would fulfilled HIS Will by those, who obey The Voice of HIS Word, to keep HIS Covenant with HIM, to be perfect by HIS Covenant Word of Promise with them in their generations. But many are quick to say that no one can keep GOD’S Law. But this is only true if we try to keep GOD’S Law on our own, without The Power of GOD’S Covenant Word of Promise with us, and in us, to fulfill GOD’S Will to walk perfectly before HIM by HIS Engrafted Word, Who does The Will of GOD in us. Over and over again GOD says by The Promise of HIS Word, “I will”. And because of GOD’S Word of Promise, the record of Abraham has been one of obeying The Voice of GOD’S Word, to keep GOD’S charge, HIS Commandments, HIS Statutes and HIS Laws, which many are saying no one can keep. But by their unbelief, or their lack of faith, they are calling GOD a liar, to fulfill their unbelief of The Word of Power in their lives, and follow the descendants of Cain.

It is clear from the record of The Word of GOD, that GOD has been keeping HIS Covenant Word of Promise to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. And to each son in their generation, GOD was fulfilling HIS Word of Promise to Abraham, when HE said to him, “…Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations” (Genesis 17:1-9). For GOD made it clear that Abraham obeyed HIS Voice, and kept HIS Charge, HIS Commandments, HIS Statutes, and HIS Laws in his generation, before the representing of HIS Commandment again upon Mount Sinai hundreds of years later.

From GOD’S Covenant Word of Promise to Abraham, it is clear that through the seed of Abraham, not only would his seed be blessed, but also his seed would bless all the nations of the earth. Why? Because GOD said, “…that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.” Does this means that because Abraham obeyed GOD’S Voice, and kept HIS Charge, HIS Commandments, HIS Statutes, and HIS Laws in his generation, we today in our generation do not need to keep them? Were Abraham’s son Isaac and his grandson Jacob exempt from keeping GOD’S Covenant Word of Promise in their generation, because Abraham kept them in his?

Did GOD not establish HIS Covenant Word of Promise with each generation, as HE promised to Abraham by HIS Covenant Word of Promise, Who keeps GOD Will? But many are seeking to make void GOD’S Covenant Word of Promise to us in our generation, by their influence to men and women to keep not GOD’S Commandments, which is the breaking of HIS Covenant Word of Promise with them, to fulfill not GOD’S Covenant Word of Promise in them. And if they keep not GOD’S Covenant Word, as Abraham did, to walk perfectly with GOD by HIS Word, then they are fulfilling their unbelief that no one can keep GOD’S Law in their generation. This is the weakness of the flesh, which has no power to do GOD’S Will, because GOD’S Covenant Word of Christ Spirit is not engrafted in them, according to James 1:16-25.

Again, GOD said to Abram, “…I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee” (Genesis 17:7). If GOD’S Covenant is broken by those, who keep not HIS Covenant Word with GOD, as He has kept with Abraham, then do they expect GOD to be their GOD, to be blessed of GOD, to be called HIS people, and to inherit the land HE promised to Abraham? Abraham believed GOD’S Covenant Word of Promise, because he obeyed GOD’S Voice. And all, who are called to be of the seed of Abraham, our blessing from GOD comes down to us in our generation when we also obey GOD’S Covenant Word of Promise, Whom HE has given also unto us in our generation.

Speaking of GOD’S Covenant Word, Who was with him in his generation, David said of The LORD, “He [is] the LORD our God: his judgments [are] in all the earth. He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word [which] he commanded to a thousand generations. Which [covenant] he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac; And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, [and] to Israel [for] an everlasting covenant” (Psalms 105:7-10).

Notice that David wrote of GOD’S Covenant with Abraham in his Psalms, saying, “He hath remembered his covenant for ever”, The question I raised in my study of GOD’S Word is this: What Covenant did GOD remember forever? David answered the question in the statement following the first. David revealed GOD’S Covenant, as being “The Word” which HE commanded to a thousand generations, which would more than cover the generations to our time.

According to the evidence of Scripture, if Abraham obeyed GOD’S Voice, and kept HIS Charge, HIS Commandments, HIS Statutes, and HIS Laws, then Abraham also kept GOD’S Sabbath day of rest, which was establish at creation between GOD and man, not because GOD was tired, or exhausted, but because HE has established a perpetual, continuous example for all of humanity to follow. It was Cain and his descendants, who were disobedient to The Spirit of GOD’S leading in their lives, because they were being influence by the same spirit of disobedience, who are influencing men and women today, just as he influenced Adam and Eve in Eden, to sin against GOD and HIS Covenant Word of Promise.

To avoid obeying The Spirit of GOD’S Word, Whom many say He is leading them, they insinuate that The Sabbath was not established until Mount Sinai, and that it was only for the Jews, or the children of Israel, whose name was Jacob before GOD changed his name to Israel. But this view is incorrect, and it is the work of the adversary to blind the minds of men and women to The Truth of GOD’S Word. Again The Words of Scripture reveals a different view.

The Evidence of Sabbath
When GOD called Abraham to leave the house of his father Terah, to go into a land that HE would show him, his father and brother Nahor, who was Laban’s father, they were idol worshipers. And when Jacob left Laban’s house with both his daughters, as his wives, Rachel stole Laban’s images, which he worshiped as his gods, which he learn from the days of his father Nahor—Abraham’s brother. This was the reason that GOD called Abram out of his father’s house, to worship The True GOD, by walking perfectly before HIM, by keeping HIS Covenant Word of Promise with him. GOD said of Abraham, “Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him” (Genesis 18:18-19). Notice that The Way of The LORD is HIS Word of Promise, Who said, “…behold, I [am] with thee, and will keep thee in all [places] whither thou goest…” (Genesis 28:15). Notice also that GOD can only do what HE has promised by HIS Covenant Word to Abraham, if he kept The Way of The LORD, to walk perfectly with HIM, to be a blessing to all nations.

After Jacob and his descendents came out of Canaan to Egypt, to save their souls alive from the famine that was in all the land, the household of Jacob grew from seventy souls to a large household in the land of Goshen. And after they gave their money, their cattle, and a portion of their land for bread, the children of Israel sold themselves to be the servants of Pharaoh for their bread that they may live. And after Joseph--the governor over the land died, the new Pharaoh that came into power, he changed the service of the children of Israel, to be his slaves for their bread.

In calling upon Moses, to fulfill HIS Promise by HIS Word to Jacob, to bring him again out from Egypt, GOD sent HIS Covenant Word with Moses to deliver the children of Israel from their bondage of being slaves in the land of Egypt. For in their years of slavery and bondage in Egypt, Pharaoh did not allow them to rest, or to have a Sabbath from their labors. It is written that, “…Moses and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness. And Pharaoh said, Who [is] the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go. And they said, The God of the Hebrews hath met with us: let us go, we pray thee, three days' journey into the desert, and sacrifice unto the LORD our God; lest he fall upon us with pestilence, or with the sword. And the king of Egypt said unto them, Wherefore do ye, Moses and Aaron, let the people from their works? get you unto your burdens. And Pharaoh said, Behold, the people of the land now [are] many, and ye make them rest from their burdens” (Exodus 5:1-5).

Notice that Pharaoh asked Moses and Aaron the question; saying, “Wherefore do ye…. let the people from their works?” The word “let” in Hebrew means: (to refuse, to set at nought, or to loosen) the people from their works, to give them rest. And the word “rest” in the context that it is being used, the Hebrew word is “shabath” from which we get the word Sabbath, and the meaning is “to cease, desist, rest”, or “to keep or observe the Sabbath”, to observe GOD’S day of rest, which HE instituted at creation, when HE rested from HIS labor of creation on The Seventh day of the week, which was established by HIS rest. But the children of Israel could not rest in keeping GOD’S Holy day of rest, because Pharaoh admitted to Moses and to Aaron that he knew not The LORD, to let Israel go and sacrifice unto The LORD, for he said, “…for they [be] idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go [and] sacrifice to our God” (Exodus 5:8).

It was this cry that came unto The LORD by the children of Israel during their slavery in Egypt. For GOD said by HIS Word unto Moses, while he was in the land of Midian, saying, “…I have surely seen the affliction of my people which [are] in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites. Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them” (Exodus 3:7-9). This gives us evidence that the children of Israel did sacrifice unto The LORD, as they were taught by the example of their father Abraham in his generation. But Pharaoh called their sacrifice of rest unto The LORD, as being idle. And when Moses requested to Pharaoh on behalf of GOD and the children of Israel, Pharaoh admitted that he knew not The LORD to obey HIS Voice. And to keep the children of Israel from sacrificing unto The LORD on The Sabbath day, he--Pharaoh increased the labor upon the children of Israel, to work on The Sabbath day without the provisions to accomplish their labor.

With A Mixed Multitude
Many deny The Word of Truth that The Sabbath was being kept before Mount Sinai. After years of breaking The Holy Sabbath Day of Rest by their labor, as slaves to the Pharaoh in Egypt, another record of history in The Scriptures revealed that The Sabbath was in effect before GOD wrote HIS Ten Promises in stone, as a Law upon Mount Sinai. And that These Promises were not only for the children of Israel, but for all mankind. For it is written that when, “…the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot [that were] men, beside children. And a mixed multitude went up also with them; and flocks, and herds, [even] very much cattle” (Exodus 12:37, 38).

Here in these words, the evidence of The Scriptures reveals that there were about six hundred thousand of the children of Israel that were men on foot, beside children, and there were also a mixed multitude that went up also with them out of the land of Egypt, with their flocks, and herds, and even very much cattle. This reveals that the children of Israel were not the only ones, who exodus out of Egypt. And therefore the blessings that were given to the children of Israel were given also to those, who sojourned with them, because the mixed multitude did not have to sojourn with them, or journey out of Egypt with them.

Other than The Sabbath Rest, which Pharaoh kept the children of Israel from receiving, to sacrifice onto The LORD their God, GOD also revealed by Moses another event in which The Sabbath was demonstrated among the children of Israel, and the mixed multitude, before The Lively Oracles of GOD’S Law were given to them from upon Mount Sinai. That event took place when the whole congregation murmured unto Moses, because of their hunger. And Moses wrote and said, “Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no. And it shall come to pass, that on the sixth day they shall prepare [that] which they bring in; and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily” (Exodus 16:4, 5).

Notice that because a mixed multitude came up out of the land of Egypt with the children of Israel, and sojourned with them in their journey, to sacrifice onto The LORD their God, The LORD revealed to Moses that HE will prove them, whether they will walk in HIS Law, or not. “And it came to pass, as Aaron spake unto the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and, behold, the glory of the LORD appeared in the cloud. And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, At even ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread; and ye shall know that I [am] the LORD your God” (Exodus 16:10-12).

Moses wrote and said, “…it came to pass, [that] on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one [man]: and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses. And he said unto them, This [is that] which the LORD hath said, To morrow [is] the rest of the holy sabbath unto the LORD: bake [that] which ye will bake [to day], and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning. And they laid it up till the morning, as Moses bade: and it did not stink, neither was there any worm therein. And Moses said, Eat that to day; for to day [is] a sabbath unto the LORD: to day ye shall not find it in the field. Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day, [which is] the sabbath, in it there shall be none. And it came to pass, [that] there went out [some] of the people on the seventh day for to gather, and they found none. And the LORD said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws? See, for that the LORD hath given you the sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day. So the people rested on the seventh day” (Exodus 16:22-30).

Notice that some of the people went out on The Holy Sabbath Day, to labor to gather their bread, but The LORD said unto Moses “How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws?” How could The LORD say that they refused to keep HIS Commandments and Laws, if HE had not yet given to them HIS Commandments and Laws upon Mount Sinai? HE could say this because The Law of The Sabbath was already established before Abraham was called upon to keep GOD’S Law, because HE had already set an Example in HIS House, for HIS children to follow. For it is written that, “…on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made” (Genesis 2:2, 3). Notice that GOD rested. HE Sabbath to make a day by HIS rest, to blessed and sanctified The Seventh day by HIS Rest on that day.

When The LORD gave the congregation HIS Ten Commandments, HE spoke to them of The Sabbath, which they had forgotten during their years of slavery in Egypt. And because some of the people had gone out to labor on The Sabbath Day, to gather their bread, when it was revealed that their would be none given to them on that day, because it was HIS Holy Day of Rest, all, who were joined in one Spirit with HIM were to be keeping HIS Day Holy. HE said in HIS Covenant Word of Promise, “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the LORD thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within thy gates: For [in] six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them [is], and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it” (Exodus 20:8-11).

And speaking for the children of Israel, the rulers and elders covenanted by promise to GOD, to keep GOD’S Law, Which is HIS Covenant Word of Promise. But before The Covenant Word of Promise was even given to them on tables of stone, to show the everlasting nature of GOD’S Promise of HIS Word, they had been led to break one of GOD’S Ten Promises to them, by making an idol to be their god, to go before them back to Egypt.

The Seventh day Sabbath of Rest was given, not upon Mount Sinai, but at creation to the man Adam. But many descendants of Adam made that day of rest a day of labor, to work for their bread. They do not rely upon The Promise of GOD to care for them, as HE provided for the children of Israel in the wilderness for forty years. When The LORD commanded The Sabbath from Mount Sinai to the children of Israel, and the mixed multitude, HE extended The Sabbath, not only to their sons, and daughters, but also to their menservants, to their maidservants, to their cattle’s and to even the strangers that were within their gates. The stranger is a sojourner, which means 1a) a temporary inhabitant, a newcomer lacking inherited rights, 1b) of foreigners in Israel, though conceded rights. Even their cattle were to be blessed by GOD’S day of Rest, which HE blessed and sanctified, to make The Seventh day Holy.

Ten Commandments are Ten Promises
In her writings on Ten Commandments, Ellen G. White wrote in more than two places that Ten Commandments are Ten Promises. She said, “In the precepts of His holy law, God has given a perfect rule of life; and He has declared that until the close of time this law, unchanged in a single jot or tittle, is to maintain its claim upon human beings. Christ came to magnify the law and make it honorable. . . . In His own life He gave an example of obedience to the law of God. In the sermon on the mount He showed how its requirements extend beyond the outward acts, and take cognizance of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Today God gives men opportunity to show whether they love their neighbor. He who truly loves God and his fellow man is he who shows mercy to the destitute, the suffering, the wounded, those who are ready to die. God calls upon every man to take up his neglected work, to seek to restore the moral image of the Creator in humanity. The Ten Commandments, Thou shalt, and Thou shalt not, are ten promises, assured to us if we render obedience to the law governing the universe. "If ye love me, keep my commandments." John 14:15.” ( The Faith I Live By, Page 86.4-6)

She also wrote of GOD'S promise when HE said, “If ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people. Ex. 19:5. In the beginning, God gave His law to mankind as a means of attaining happiness and eternal life. The ten commandments, Thou shalt, and Thou shalt not, are ten promises, assured to us if we render obedience to the law governing the universe. "If ye love me, keep my commandments" (John 14:15). Here is the sum and substance of the law of God. The terms of salvation for every son and daughter of Adam are here outlined. . . . That law of ten precepts of the greatest love that can be presented to man is the voice of God from heaven speaking to the soul in promise, "This do, and you will not come under the dominion and control of Satan." There is not a negative in that law, although it may appear thus. It is DO and Live.” (Amazing Grace, Page 134.1-4)
