“So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of
God created he him; male and female created he them”
(Genesis 1:27).

When we seek to understand the meaning of the phrase “after HIS Kind”, we will find that the meaning will unveil to our minds The Truth that reveals to us what men have failed to become, because of their rejection of The Truth, and also who we are, and are becoming, because we have chosen to receive and believe The Truth. We are the direct result of the failure to become, or the direct result of our receiving and becoming what GOD has ordained for us to become by the receiving of HIS Word of Truth.

For there are two words that are mentioned above that can change the conditions of one, who is failing to be formed in The Image of GOD’S likeness, to one, who is becoming what GOD has designed for him, or her to become by The Image of HIS Son, Who is The Expressed Image of HIS outshining glory. For the condition of ones’ direction depends upon the direct result of his, or her rejection, or the believing on The Truth of GOD’S Word planted in the heart.

A perfect example of one, whose heart was failing to reflect the nature GOD had ordained for him to become, was Saul. In Christ ministry with His disciples, He spoke to them of men like Saul, who were not following after His Kind. Jesus said, “These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended. They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service. And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me” (John 16:1-3). Notice that those, who do a work of putting out the people of GOD from their place of worship, to kill them, they, who do this work, they are not doing the service of GOD, because they are not after HIS Kind.

Before his heart conversion, it is written that, “…Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest, And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem. And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: [it is] hard for thee to kick against the pricks. And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord [said] unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do. And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man. And Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw no man: but they led him by the hand, and brought [him] into Damascus. And he was three days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink” (Acts 9:1-9).

Notice that Saul, who was breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, he went unto the high priest, to receive from him letters to the synagogues in Damascus, that if he found any of The Way, Which were those, who followed after GOD’S Word, he would bring them bound unto Jerusalem, to persecute them, because of their faith in following after The Word of GOD. But after Saul recognized that he was heading in the wrong direction by persecuting the members of the body of Christ, his heart was open to seek and know The Will of The Lord. Saul changed his direction by saying, “Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?”

Today the word Christian, or Christians are known world wide, as those, who profess to be followers of Christ. But many are called by that Name, but they are not following The Will of GOD by HIS Word. The word Christ is used to identify The "Anointed", or The Christ, Who is The Messiah--The Son of God. He is after GOD’S Kind, and those, who follow Him; they would also be known, as being after HIS Kind. For the word Christians, or Christian is found in The Bible only three times in The New Testament. But the phrase “The Way” is known not only in The New Testament, but also in The Old Testament. The phrase is used for both The Way that leads to Life, and the way one would follow when he, or she walks not according to The Way of The LORD, or when one is turn out of The Way, to walk contrary to The Way of The LORD.

After Paul’s conversion, it is written of him that he, “Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called [to be] an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,) Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; And declared [to be] the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead: By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name: Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ: To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called [to be] saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

“First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world. For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers; Making request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you. For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established; That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me. Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, (but was let hitherto,) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles. I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise. So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith” (Romans 1:1-17).

Notice that Paul gives the answer to our question, on the meaning of the title of this study. He was one, who walked contrary to The Way and Will of GOD, until The Word of GOD came unto him, and informed him that he was persecuting Him by putting to death those, who were following after The Way of GOD’S Word. As The Word of GOD was planted in his heart, Paul testified that The Way of GOD’S Word made him to be a servant, to serve The Lord Jesus Christ. Paul was not a hearer of The Word only, but he was a doer of The Word of GOD, to serve The Lord Jesus Christ. The Way of The Word had called him to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, Which HE--The LORD had promised before by His prophets in the Holy Scriptures. This gospel is concerning HIS Son--Jesus Christ our Lord, Who was made of the seed of David, according to the flesh; and is declared to be The Son of God with power, according to The Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead: by Whom we have received grace and apostleship, not for disobedience, but for obedience to the faith, not just for the Jews, but among all nations, for His name: among whom we are also The Called of Jesus Christ: to all that be, not just in Rome, but in all nations, beloved of God, and called to be saints by following after GOD’S Word.

As Paul was separated unto the gospel, which concerns The Son of GOD--The Way of GOD, he said, Grace to you and peace from GOD our Father, and The Lord Jesus Christ. Paul gave thanks to God through Jesus Christ for all that our faith is spoken of throughout the whole world. Paul declared GOD, as his WITNESS, WHOM he served with his spirit in the gospel of HIS Son. In his prayers, he made request to GOD for the saints in Rome, to impart unto them some spiritual gift, to the end, or to the result of his efforts that they may be established, that he may be comforted together with them by their mutual faith with him.

Paul did not want the saints in Rome to be ignorant of The Faith concerning Jesus Christ our Lord. He wanted to come unto them, that he might bear some fruit among them also, even as he bore fruit among other Gentiles. He saw himself, as being indebted, or obligated both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise. And because of his desire to impart unto them some spiritual gift, that in the end they might be established, he said, “So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.”

Paul spoke of That, Which was in him, which he desired to bear, as a fruit of some spiritual gift, to impart to others, that they might be established in The Faith of The Gospel, which concerns The Son of GOD--The Lord Jesus Christ of Whom he was now in service doing His Will; for the Gospel is The Seed of GOD’S Word, Who is planted in the hearts of all, who will open their hearts to receive The Word of GOD in them, to become like Him. In The Seed of GOD’S Word is The Power of GOD, Who works The Will of GOD unto the end result, which is unto salvation, to everyone, who believes from faith to faith.

Paul also spoke of those, who believe not The Word, Who was imparted unto them, to bear fruit after likeness of Christ. He said, “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed [it] unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, [even] his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse” (Romans 1:18-20).

Many are today rejecting The Word of GOD, that He might not bear fruit after His Kind in them. As the desire was in Paul, to bear fruit of some Spiritual Gift unto others, that they might be established unto salvation; in The Gospel Seed of The Word, That, Which is known of GOD has been revealed by GOD’S Word, Who is planted in the hearts of those, who will service Him from a heart that is willing to follow The Way of The LORD, after HIS Kind.

Paul said, “[There is] therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded [is] death; but to be spiritually minded [is] life and peace. Because the carnal mind [is] enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be” (Romans 8:1-7).

Notice the connection of the phrase and meaning of the words “after HIS Kind” and the words to walk “after The Spirit”. If men are walking after the flesh, it means that they are carnally minded, and they are walking contrary to The Will and Spirit of GOD’S Word, which is sin. But if they are walking in The Way and Will of GOD’S Word, The Spirit, Who is of The LORD, He is leading them in HIS Will of Righteousness. Paul said, there is not condemnation to those, who are in Christ Jesus. If we are in Christ Jesus, then we are not walking after the flesh, to sin by doing the works of the flesh, to walk contrary to GOD’S Will. But if we are in Christ Jesus, we will not only desire to do The Will of GOD, but we will walk after His Spirit, by the direct result of The Law of His Spirit of Life in us, to free us from the direct result of the law of sin and death. Christ Spirit fulfills the righteousness of the law in right doing of GOD’S Will in us unto Life and Peace, rather than death and enmity. Yet, those, who are carnally minded, they have not subject, or put their hearts in subjection to The Law of God, because they are not following after the things of The Spirit of GOD.

Paul said, “So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ [be] in you, the body [is] dead because of sin; but the Spirit [is] life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you” (Romans 8:8-11).

As it was stated at the beginning of this study, that when we understand the meaning of this study, it will unveil to our minds The Truth that reveals to us what men have failed to become, because of their rejection of The Truth, and also who we are, and are becoming, because we have chosen to receive and believe The Truth. We are the direct result of the failure to become, or the direct result of our receiving and becoming what GOD has ordained for us to become by the receiving of HIS Word of Truth.

As it was noted in the study, the followers of Christ were known as “The Way”, which is revealed not only in The New Testament but also in The Old Testament, even as far back as The Garden of Eden. The phrase “The Way” is defined in the Strong's at #01870 in HEBREW, which means: the direction; the manner, the habit, the way; of the course of life, or of the moral character.

After Adam and Eve were led by their believing of the enemy, to sin against The Way of The LORD, rather than to submit their hearts to GOD’S Word of Life; they by following the way of the adversary, were led to see the direct result of breaking the union of The Law of The Spirit of Life, Who was in them. By The Light of Christ Glory leaving them, to be left naked of His Robe of Righteousness, “…the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life” (Genesis 3:22-24).

GOD The Father had given Adam a command by HIS Word that he might walk after the law of The Spirit of Life in Christ onto Righteousness. The Same Word of GOD was given of GOD to the children of Israel, that they might walk after The Spirit of Life in Christ onto Righteousness, that He might fulfill The Will and Way of GOD in them unto salvation. But they rebelled against the receiving of HIS Word, Who, as The Sower of The Gospel Seed to the hearts of men, they did follow on to know The LORD by HIS Word.

Paul was led to serve The Word of The LORD, to say, “Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years. Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in [their] heart; and they have not known my ways. So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.) Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end” (Hebrews 3:7-14).

Do men profess to know The Way of The LORD and yet not walk in HIS Will? John said, “If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us” (1 John 1:6-10). I pray that our hearts are being submissive to The Spirit of The Law of Life in Christ Jesus, Who has been given to all, who will receive Him, to have His Power, to do The Righteousness of The Will of GOD.
